    Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc. (OHI) is a Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC) non-profit health care corporation in Ocean County, New Jersey, that operates two service delivery sites, both conveniently located within their respective communities – one at 101 2nd Street in downtown Lakewood, and a second site at 301 Lakehurst Road in Toms River.  OHI is comprised of community-user interested parties who are concerned about the health care of residents living in Ocean County and more particularly, the target population we service. OHI provides comprehensive preventative and primary care to the area’s uninsured, underinsured and undocumented residents.

     

    Health needs in Ocean County are met through a continuum of care approach.  Services provided by OHI include primary care, pediatrics, maternal and child health, prenatal, family planning, WIC, STD services, universal immunizations and dental health.  As a health care organization OHI provides these services with a culturally sensitive family-oriented focus and to all finance payor classes, including the indigent, without regard of the ability to pay for these vital services.  In an effort to provide comprehensive medical services, formal referral arrangements are in place between OHI and other providers, including behavioral health and ancillary services and physician subspecialty services.

    Experience:                                 3-6 years experience in grant writing/fund-raising

    Education:                                   Bachelor’s Degree in English or other related field is required or Master’s Degree in Public Health or Public Administration or other related field is preferred

    Hours per Week:                         40 – Full Time

    Days of the Week:                       Monday to Friday

    Job Description:                          Reporting directly to the CEO, the incumbent will work in tandem with other members of the Senior Management Team to develop realistic strategies for submitting all grant proposals and raising funds.  Spearheads various projects to market the services and programs of Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc., (OHI).  Provides timely advice and information on funding opportunities in order to evaluate OHI’s ability to expand and to better meet the needs of its patients. This position will have the option to work from home two days per week.

    Additional Requirements:            Must have knowledge of grant application process and writing applications as well as various grant programs available to Community based Health Care Centers.  Must possess excellent written, oral and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines for grant applications.  Must possess the ability to take the initiative and utilize innovative techniques and investigate as well as research grant applications and grant opportunities available.  Must be able to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and gather, analyze and evaluate a variety of data to incorporate into grant applications.  Must be able to work in a fast paced and high volume environment.  Teamwork is essential, as is professionalism and courtesy.  Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

    Kevin Smith's podcast-based book 'Shooting the S*** ' keeps 'Clerks' director in past and future
    Thursday evening, Kevin Smith will be signing copies of his new book, "Shooting the S*** with Kevin Smith," (Titan Books, $14.95) at the Union Square Barns and Noble. His last book, "My Boring-Ass Life," was a best seller. Still, the writer and director of films such as "Clerks," "Dogma" and "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" isn't ready to be called an author.     • Paul Hemphill, 73, a novelist and journalist, died of oral cancer in Atlanta, Ga. The focuses of his writing were country music, sports, and the haunted legacy of the South. He was the author of 15 books, including his 1993 memoir, Leaving Birmingham.
    • Journalists will no longer be a part of the voting process for the Tony Awards. In the past, they have made up less than 10 percent of the total votes, but the committee has now voted against having them be able to cast a vote from this point on.
